He was born in Istanbul in 1977. • He met his darbouka in primary school. • He started playing drums after choir studies in secondary school at Eyüboğlu College. • He played in different rock bands during his high school years. (Diken is the rock band with an album at those years) • 1996 – 2001 After his undergraduate education at ITU / Faculty of Architecture / Department of City and Regional Planning, • He continued with his Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology at ITU MIAM (Advanced Music Research Center). • He started taking jazz lessons during his university years and participated in jazz projects with different musicians. • Professionally, he accompanied pop and folk music artists in the market (Yıldız Tilbe, Rober Hatemo, Sinan Erkoç, Hazal, Seçil, Tayfun Taliboğlu, Metin- Kemal Kahraman, Serdar Keskin, Ekrem Ataer, etc.) • In 2001, from Ankara. He played drums in the Ethnic Jazz Band Kaçkar Illusion and recorded an album labeled Huitwalait with them. • Later, he deepened his interested in world folk music and practiced more on world percussion. (Tumba, Bongo, Djembe, Bendir, Erbane, Zilli Def etc.) • He had the opportunity to give a concert with İhsan Özgen (ITU State Conservatory classical kemençe master) and then, as a result of his interest in world music, he started to experiment with combining eastern drums and the drum set• In 2006, he founded his own studio, Kozyatağı Rhythm and Recording Studio. • Right now; He carries out experimental works including world folk music and Jazz-Rock based music. In addition to his stage and recording works, he continues his musical life as an instructor at Drum Course Kozyatağı – Ataşehir.
